MICHAEL MAHAFFY – PRESIDENT
Michael Mahaffy

Michael is Managing Member of RHR Capital LLC a Private Equity and Real Estate investment firm he founded in 2006. RHR Capital LLC has investment interests in Private Equity focused on water and health sciences and in Real Estate focused on ranches and farms, commercial wind farm development, and distressed properties. Previously, Michael spent over 20 years on Wall Street at UBS and Salomon Brothers Inc. At UBS Michael was a Managing Director with responsibilities as the head of Equity Derivatives sales and trading responsible for risk management products, convertibles, futures, and program trading. Michael graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics and Computer Science. In addition to the GLF Board, Michael serves on the Board of the UNC Institute for the Environment, and the Boys and Girls Club of Greenwich.

 

DAVID POLAK – SECRETARY

David is a Vice President at the Capital Group of Companies, a global, privately-owned investment organization that manages the American Funds family of mutual funds and institutional investments from around the world.

Previously, David spent over 20 years in the City of London and on Wall Street at UBS and Deutsche Bank. David was a Managing Director at both firms with responsibilities across their Equity groups including roles in sales, trading and equity capital markets.

David graduated from University College London with a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics and Economic History. David and his wife, Sally, moved to Greenwich in 1999 and attend Stanwich Church where David has served on the board of trustees. They have four boys, aged 9 to 17 attending Brunswick school in Greenwich.

 

DAVID MILLER – MODERATOR

David Miller

David serves as the Director of the Princeton University Faith & Work Initiative. He is also an Associate Research Scholar and Lecturer at Princeton. Prior to this, he was at Yale University for five years, where he served as the Executive Director of the Yale Center for Faith & Culture. David’s signature course is, “Business Ethics: Succeeding without Selling Your Soul.”

David brings an unusual “bilingual” perspective to the academic and business world. Before receiving his Ph.D. in ethics, he spent 16 years in senior positions in international business and finance, spending eight of those years overseas.

 

JERRY LEAMON – TREASURER

Jerry is a Global Managing Partner at Deloitte, the largest professional services firm in the world. In his 39 years there, including 30 years as a partner, he has held a wide range of leadership roles, including worldwide oversight of the firm’s four core businesses (Audit & Enterprise Risk, Consulting, Financial Advisory, and Tax Services). He has led the development and execution of key global strategies and has worked with Deloitte’s Global Business Leaders to formulate and carry through action plans for enhancing the organization’s capabilities in key countries. Jerry also served as Global Managing Director of Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) and as Vice-Chairman of the Deloitte Center for Cross-Border Investment (DCCBI), whose objective is to secure marketplace and thought-leadership in areas of relevance to cross-border investors. Jerry is on the Board of AmeriCares and the University of Cincinnati Foundation. He holds a B.B.A. in Accounting from the University of Cincinnati (1972) and is a 2005 recipient of the prestigious Carl H. Lindner Award for Outstanding Business Achievement from UC’s College of Business.

 

RICHARD MURPHY – PAST PRESIDENT

Richard Murphy

Mr. Murphy spent most of his managing consulting career developing and implementing methodologies for leadership, organizational development, high performance cross-functional teams and accountability management. He was a founder and President of ODI International, a management consulting firm with global partnerships. His high-impact consulting services focused on achieving superior organizational performance through people public and private sectors , and his company was named to INC Magazine’s List of Fastest Growing Companies in the US. He lived in Asia for three years, while building his consultancy throughout the region, including Europe and the Middle East. Prior to management consulting, Mr. Murphy held executive positions with CBS, Texaco and Control Data. He has served on numerous boards of directors and is a founding member of the Instructional Systems Association (ISA). He is published in many business journals and has presented at The Conference Board, European Foundation For Management Development (EFMD), Linkage, IIRA, The Forum, ASTD and other associations and conferences. Mr. Murphy received his BA degree in English Literature with a Minor in Science from Windham College. He and his wife Wendy reside in Greenwich, CT and summer on Cape Cod, MA.

 

HENRY G. HIGDON II

Henry Higdon

U.S. Marine Corps Reserves 1964 through 1970; honorably discharged as a Staff Sergeant. Thirty-seven years in the executive search business; 15 years with Russell Reynolds Associates(in New York, Houston, and Los Angeles); and own firm since 1986, currently Managing Partner of Higdon Partners LLC. Activities/commitments include: Past President of Andover Alumni Association, and former Trustee; member of the Board of the Yale Football Association (and Past President); Co-Founder of the Ivy Football Association; recently joined Board of Christian Herald Association (Bowery Mission in New York City); Board Member of LifeSpring Network. Member of Stanwich Congregational Church since 1985; Past Trustee (twice); former Senior Deacon; three-terms as Moderator and Chairman of the Capital Campaign.

 

HOLLY SINGSEN – WEB PRESENCE

Holly Singsen

Holly is a Senior Client Executive with Sirius Computer Solutions, a nationally recognized technology solution provider with a certified team of sales and technical professionals who have the skills, product knowledge and commitment to help clients develop and implement the right solutions to solve their business needs.

Holly has 14 years experience and has previously worked in New York City for IBM and Vicom Computer Solutions. Holly has been a consistent top sales producer at the three firms with responsibilities across their New York City Metro clients.

Holly graduated from University of Delaware with a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering. Holly moved to Greenwich in 2001 and attends Stanwich Church with her three boys, aged 1 to 5 years old.

 

BRAD HVOLBECK

Brad Hvolbeck

Brad is managing director of Prudential Brad Hvolbeck Real Estate. A firm with roots back to 1928. Brad is a recognized leader in Greenwich Real Estate since 1968. He has been on the Board of Directors of the Greenwich Association of Realtors for over thirty years and was elected President for seven terms. He also was Vice President of the Connecticut Association of Realtors. Brad graduated from Nichols College and has attained the highest professional designations in residential real estate, including CRB, CRS and GRI. Brad is an emeritus board member of Eagle Hill School after serving twenty-five years on the board, six as Chairman. Brad is a former Board Member of Boys Scouts of America, Greenwich Council; Greenwich Health Association; Greenwich Chamber of Commerce; PNC CT Board of Advisors. Brad is a fourth generation Greenwich resident, is married to Marijane and has three sons. He is a member of Trinity Church.

 

REBECCA GEORGE

Rebecca George

Rebecca George is currently Managing Director, Westfield Capital Corporation, a Greenwich based private equity firm. Rebecca worked for almost a decade with Merrill Lynch in London where she was Vice President, Institutional Equity Sales. She has also served in senior business development roles with MasterCard International and AT&T. Rebecca graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. In addition to the GLF Board, Rebecca currently serves as Co-Senior Trustee, Stanwich Congregational Church and as a Board member for the Greenwich Center for Hope and Renewal.

Ann Richardson Knox

Ann Knox

Ann Richardson Knox is a Partner in the New York office of Mayer Brown LLP an international corporate law firm. Ann has over 13 years of experience advising major financial institutions and private equity and hedge funds in complex corporate financings. She concentrates her practice in the representation of borrowers and lenders in secured and unsecured lending and finance transactions, including syndicated financings, portfolio leveraging transactions, acquisition financings and workouts.

Ann is also a board member of the Cornell Club of Fairfield county as well as the Columbia Law School Alumnae Association.

Ann graduated from Cornell University with a BS in Industrial and Labor Relations and received her JD from Columbia University School of Law. Ann, her husband and daughter attend Stanwich Church.

Mike Duda

Mike Duda

Mike is the Co-Founder/Managing Partner of Consigliere Brand Capital a marketing-driven investment company based in New York CIty. Consigliere is a unique group of business athletes that leverage marketing and brand management principles to help established companies such as Under Armour and GNC and start-ups such as BirchBox and STELLAService grow faster and more profitably.

Previously, he spent 18 years in the world of Madison Avenue, the last 12 at Deutsch Inc. As Partner, Chief Corporate Strategy Officer, he oversaw business development, corporate strategy, public relations and agency brand development as well as relationships with brands ranging from the Fortune 500 to upstarts closing in on them.

GRANT GREGORY

Mr. Gregory is Vice Chairman of Cerberus Capital Management; L.P. Mr. Gregory’s professional expertise includes Corporate Governance and Ethical Business Practices, mergers and acquisitions, and tax policy. He has served successfully in numerous leadership roles as chairman of the board, CEO, merchant banker and director of public, private and non profit corporations. As a corporate director of New York Stock Exchange member companies, he has served as the chairman of audit, governance, and compensation committees for a number of New York Stock Exchange member companies. He has also served as chairman of Special Independent Directors Committees for NYSE member companies. As an advisor to clients, he has coordinated multiple law firms in complex securities and tax litigation matters; has supervised special fraud and securities investigations; and advised on risk management and director & officer liability issues.

Mr. Gregory retired as Chairman of the Board after completing 24 years with Touche Ross & Co. (Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu). He led global teams in a wide range of industries and countries while servicing the firm’s 100 largest clients. Mr. Gregory founded Gregory & Hoenemeyer, Inc., a merchant banking and LBO firm with investments including Banking, Real Estate, Marketing and Advertising Services, and Financial Advisory Services. He was also one of the founders of DoubleClick, Inc.

Public service roles included governmental appointments as Executive Co-Chairman of the United States Privatization Council, and U.S. Trade Representative’s Advisory Committee on International Trade in Services. He currently serves as Chairman of the Remington Outdoor Foundation, Chairman Emeritus of the National Forest Foundation in Washington, D.C., Director Emeritus of The National Board of Directors of Junior Achievement and was Director of the LPGA. He was named “Businessman of the Year” by the Big Brothers of America and is an active member of the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Research Advisory Board.

Mr. Gregory graduated with distinction from the University of Nebraska in 1964, where he was later awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters, as well as The Builder Award, the University’s highest non-academic recognition. He has completed advanced management courses at Harvard University’s Graduate School of Business, at New York University, and attended the Air Force War College.

An avid outdoorsman, Mr. Gregory’s special interests include golf, wildlife habitat management, skiing, sporting clays, fly-fishing and Labradors.

Mr. Gregory, his wife Karen, and family reside in Greenwich, Connecticut and Buffalo, Wyoming.

Margaret Fisher
Margret Fisher

Margaret Van Vliet Fisher is an executive healthcare consultant with over 20 years of experience in the management of faith-based, academic, military and community healthcare organizations. She brings insight to the increasing roles of religion, faith and ethics in healthcare policy, decision-making and organizational delivery. After a career in clinical nursing, Ms. Fisher received a Bachelor of Arts in Organizational Leadership from La Grange College in 2006 followed by a Masters of Business Administration from Auburn University in 2008. A native of Greenwich, Ms. Fisher recently returned to her hometown from Princeton, New Jersey and lives with her husband, Henry, and step-daughter. Ms. Fisher has three grown daughters of her own and attributes much of her joy in life to the strong bond she shares with them.

In his role at Northern Trust, Ted serves as a Senior Wealth Strategist for wealthy families, entrepreneurs, CEOs, business owners, Private Equity and Hedge Fund professionals, as well as foundations and endowments. He has over 28 years of financial services experience and his role is committed to developing dynamic wealth management strategies that are unique to clients’ individual needs and objectives.

Ted joined Northern Trust from Robbins & Henderson, LLC., where he was the Chief Operating Officer, Chief Financial Officer and Partner. Robbins and Henderson was a trusted and very well respected boutique brokerage firm on the Floor of the NYSE that serviced a select Blue Chip Group of institutions for over a decade. His family history on the NYSE dates back to 1861.

From 1984, when he graduated from college, Ted has had numerous roles servicing financial institutions. He was responsible for both sales and trading coverage of the largest European institutional accounts with Merrill Lynch and Hambrecht & Quist, and was a leading convertible bond salesman at Salomon Brothers covering major NY Institutions.

Ted serves as a Board member of a number of not for profit entities including The Fishers Island Development Corporation and The Fishers Island Foundation, and holds a bachelor’s degree from Georgetown University.

Ted lives in Greenwich, is married and has three children.
