A native of South Africa and Harvard Business school graduate, Ian Haynes has been the Chief Financial Officer of Jamaica Resorts at Sandals Resorts International since 2013. Prior to this position, he was the Director of Finance and Business at Ker & Downey for six years, a high-end safari company in Tanzania. Ian also has been the Head of Finance in the Fruit and Wine Export Industry, a position he held for nine years in South Africa. Upon graduation, Ian began his career with the accounting firm KPMG, one of the largest audit, tax and advisory firms in the South African region.
Ian is a registered Chartered Accountant with the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants. He completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Stellenbosch, obtaining his Bachelor’s in Accounting, and post-graduate degree at the University of South Africa. More recently Ian has completed the General Management Program at the Harvard Business School, and has also qualified as a Chartered Director at the Caribbean Institute of Directors.
Ian and his wife Franciska (Ciska) have been married for 22 years and currently live in Montego Bay, Jamaica. They have three children: Michael, a junior at Baylor University; Cianka, a freshman at Baylor; and Jovan, a ninth-grader at the Stony Brook School.
Ian admits he is “addicted to running.” He and Ciska ran the New York City marathon together in 2016 (their first) and hope to do many more. Ian loves golfing, scuba diving and fishing- both interests well-suited to the Caribbean. He has recently joined the board of the Stony Brook School in Long Island, New York.
